After considering many side issues in consultation with the Ghana
Boxing Authority (GBA) and DSTV who will screen the fight to over 4
million viewers across Africa, Box Office Sports Promotions have set a
new date of May 16 for the overly publicized Bukom Banku vrs Ayitey
Powers mega fight.
AllSports.com.gh can however also report that this new date is also
waiting for another week before it can be confirmed because Ayitey
Powers has again asked for that period of time to make consultations
before officially agreeing to fight on Friday May 16.
“We proposed May 16 and the GBA have approved but Ayitey Powers is
asking he can only confirm in a week’s time,” Box Office CEO Alex
Ntiamoah Boakye told All Sports Ghana.
“Powers says he needs time to discuss with his team though he wants
to fight but need sometime to confirm, that is a week,” Mr. Ntiamoah
Boakye added.
The much awaited epic clash codenamed Judgment Night has had dates
previously changed from April 25 to April 18 which was completely thrown
overboard last week after Powers asked for a postponement upon, as he
said, prophecy that he shouldn’t fight in the month of April.
The Ghanaian public have been clamouring for the fight which has
received rave reviews interlaced with endless verbal war between the two
boxers.
A record 3,000 tickets were sold on the first day of release with
many experts tipping the fight when it does finally come off to record
the highest ever attendance in Ghanaian boxing history.
